Last Saturday, was one of those crisp winter mornings that makes riding feel extra rewarding, my friends and I headed out for a ride through Shropshire with a clear destination in mind: Dragon Soul Projects, a biker café and custom bike workshop based in Newport, Shropshire.
I was riding my Honda CRF300L, layered up and loving every frosty mile. One of my mates was buzzing along on his Monkey bike, while the other rolled steadily on his Yamaha XT. The roads were quiet, the air sharp, and it felt good just to be out riding – the kind of day where a biker café stop makes all the difference.

Dragon Soul Projects sits on the edge of the quaint town of Newport, just off Forton Road at the Nix Service Station, making it an easy and popular stop for riders passing through the area. As soon as we pulled in, we knew we’d chosen well. There’s plenty of space to park bikes, and the place has that biker café feel and the space was relaxed, welcoming and cosy.
Inside, we were welcomed by the owners, Natalie and Alex, who instantly made us feel at home. There was nothing forced about it – just genuine warmth and a real interest in where we’d ridden from and what we were on. It quickly became clear that Dragon Soul Projects isn’t just a café, but a proper community hub, with locals already gathered inside.
With hot teas and coffees in hand, we chatted about bikes, winter riding and the unexpected green lane we’d ended up on due to road closures – let’s just say the Monkey spent more time submerged in icy puddles than it probably should have.
All too soon it was time to head off, fingers warmed, coffee finished and helmets back on. Before we left, Natalie asked for a quick photo for their social media, and we were glad to oblige.

Dragon Soul Projects is one of those biker cafés you should certainly pop in if you’re riding through Shropshire, especially on a winter’s day as it’s well worth stopping in for a brew, a chat and a proper welcome.
